Defense Metals Receives REE Flotation Results

Defense Metals Corp of Vancouver, BC has received the final report from SGS Canada Inc with respect to flotation pilot plant processing of its Wicheeda rare earth element (REE) property bulk sample in Lakefield, ON. The Wicheeda project near Prince George, BC has indicated mineral resources of 4.89 million tonnes averaging 3.02% light rare earth elements and inferred mineral resources of 12.1 million tonnes averaging 2.90% LREO.

The goals of the flotation plant program were to validate the flowsheet development during previous test work on the deposit in 2019 at pilot plant scale, to provide data for engineering design, and to generate high grade rare earth oxides.

Craig Taylor, Defense Metals’ CEO, stated, “The success of the flotation pilot and 1,200 kg of high grade REE concentrate produced places Defense Metals and the Wicheeda REE deposit among rare company, and opens the door to future hydrometallurgical pilot trials at SGS, with the ultimate goal of producing Nd-Pr oxide product stream.”

Medallion Resources Ltd of Vancouver, BC has begun a comprehensive comparative technical and commercial review of existing and emerging rare earth element (REE) separation technologies. Leading technologies, subject to appropriate business conditions, will be considered for partnership or investment by Medallion or its North American focused REE Consortium financial backers Talaxis Ltd and Amvest Capital Inc, both significant Medallion shareholders.

Geomega Resources Inc of Montreal, QC has secured additional debt financing of CDN$1.33 million, which will be added to the funds required to build its rare earth magnet recycling demonstration plant in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, QC. Project financing will be provided by Investissement Quebec who will be acting as agent on behalf of the Quebec government to secure funding for the project. The funds will be used for the purchase of equipment, as well as engineering and construction of the demonstration plant.
